A Biblical word study in the ESV. May God grant me the endurance to see this study carried out.

1 Peter 5:1-5 — “So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.'”

And when they came to him, he said to them: “You yourselves know how I lived among you the whole time from the first day that I set foot in Asia, serving the Lord with all humility and with tears and with trials that happened to me through the plots of the Jews; how I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house, testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Humbled” Word Study: Isaiah 2:9-17

“Humbled” Word Study: Isaiah 2:9-17

A Biblical word study in ESV. May God grant me the endurance to see this study carried out.

Isaiah 2:9-17 — “

So man is humbled,
    and each one is brought low—
    do not forgive them!
 Enter into the rock
    and hide in the dust
from before the terror of the Lord,
    and from the splendor of his majesty.
 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low,
    and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled,
and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

 For the Lord of hosts has a day
    against all that is proud and lofty,
    against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low;
 against all the cedars of Lebanon,
    lofty and lifted up;
    and against all the oaks of Bashan;
 against all the lofty mountains,
    and against all the uplifted hills;
 against every high tower,
    and against every fortified wall;
 against all the ships of Tarshish,
    and against all the beautiful craft.
 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled,
    and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low,
    and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.
