“Patience” Word Study: Romans 9:22-23

“Patience” Word Study: Romans 9:22-23

A Biblical Word Study in ESV. May God grant me the endurance to see this study carried out.

Romans 9:22-23 — “What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—”

MacArthur commentary: “God could justly destroy sinners the first time they sin. But he patiently endures their rebellion rather than giving them what every sin immediately deserves: eternal punishment…[By] “vessels of wrath”…Paul refers to those whom God has not only chosen for salvation, but rather allowed to incur the just penalty for their sin–God’s wrath.”
